Natural tick protection for dogs

If you spend a lot of time outdoors with your loved one, you've probably already made the acquaintance of uninvited guests: ticks are particularly active in the warm season and can transmit dangerous diseases such as Lyme disease.

The parasites react to changes in temperature and smell and drop as soon as a person or animal approaches. Without suitable tick protection , one or more ticks can bite into your dog.

Prevent tick bites the natural way

To prevent ticks from transmitting diseases to your dog, you should take preventive measures .

We have tried all sorts of remedies ourselves (including chemical ingredients such as spot ons, which are supposed to act as neurotoxins for ticks ) and unfortunately we have had the experience that many dogs react strongly to these remedies and cannot tolerate them at all.

That's why you'll only find purely natural remedies for ticks in our Pawsome Shop. We would also be happy to advise you in detail on the topic and support you with our experiences.

However, please note : We are not veterinarians, so we do not give any medical advice. Therefore, if in doubt, you should contact your trusted veterinarian and get advice from them.

Natural tick protection in the Pawsome Shop

Nature offers us so much - including a range of natural remedies for ticks. All of the products in our shop are free from harmful substances and can be used completely safely.

Our first tip for tick prevention is coconut oil . There are two ways to apply it here:
You can give it to your pet through their food - the amount depends on the size of the dog. We have had good experiences with 1 teaspoon of coconut oil for a 25 kg dog.

You can also rub a little coconut oil on the fur of short-haired dogs in particular to provide additional protection against tick bites.
Coconut oil also nourishes the skin and gives the fur a beautiful shine.

The organic fur care product from Serie skincare from Vienna combines the positive properties of coconut oil with other highly effective plant extracts. Grooming your fur can also help you keep ticks away from your four-legged friend.

Another simple tip: Since ticks usually crawl around on the dog for a while before they bite, simply wipe your four-legged friend thoroughly with your hands at the end of the walk , especially under the armpits, on the neck and on the stomach.

And if it does happen: remove ticks

Unfortunately, there is hardly any remedy against ticks that works 100% - whether chemical or natural. So if the beasts do bite into your four-legged friend, it is very important that the bite site is properly cared for.

  • First, you should remove the tick using tick tweezers made from a hygienic material such as stainless steel that is easy to clean . Please do not prick the skin if you have not been able to remove the head - this will make the area more likely to become infected. The head simply falls off after a few days.
  • Afterwards, it is advisable to clean the bite site . For this you will find the slightly disinfecting and nourishing silver spray from LILA LOVES IT made from plant-based ingredients.
  • Observe the bite for a few days - if it becomes very red or shows other abnormalities, please consult a veterinarian immediately.

Please note : We offer care products that support dog care or ward off parasites using purely natural ingredients. A promise of healing cannot be derived from this. We always recommend consulting a veterinarian for expert feedback.
